The World Bank Children’s Art Prize: Livable Planet

The World Bank Family Network and Art Program are joining forces to launch the World Bank Children’s Art Prize, a new art contest for all World Bank Group children.

The theme of the inaugural contest is “Livable Planet.” Submissions took various forms, including drawings, paintings, graffiti, photography, or digital art.

Artwork Installation and Judging Process:

The installation of the “Livable Planet” artworks began the week of March 25th and will continue on a rolling basis to account for submissions from country offices (COs) arriving via regular mail.

In-person judging took take place on March 28, 2024.

Each judge received a physical scoring packet that included anonymized images of the artworks, grouped by age category and arranged in the same sequence as the physical display to facilitate identification during the in-person evaluations.

Judging Criteria:
Each jury member assigned a score ranging from one (lowest) to five (highest) for each artwork based on the following criteria:
  • Clarity & Adherence to Theme (Livable Planet): Does the artwork clearly convey a message related to creating or maintaining a livable planet?
  • Creativity & Originality: Does the artwork show unique and imaginative ideas related to the "Livable Planet" theme?
  • Overall Artistic Impression: What is the overall impact of the artwork in its technique, composition, and presentation?
  • Cause for exclusion from the juried selection (not from the exhibition):  Not conforming to the required technical requirements on medium, subject, and size.

Selection of Winners:

  • The Grand Prize Winner :  The artwork with the most total points.
  • Overall Winners: The top 3 artworks with the highest overall score across all age categories.
  • Age Group Winners: The top 3 artworks in each age group, based on cumulative scores.
  • Honorable Mentions: The top 20 runners-up.

In the case of a tie, the President of the Jury will make the final decision.
