Finding the right school for your child is something you should consider well in advance of your relocation to the Washington DC area. Many good public and private schools are available, including a number of institutions teaching an international curriculum such as the IB program. Please note that private schools and universities are extremely expensive in the US. Financial scholarships are usually not available for G-4 visa holders.

Please remember that you need to live (rent or buy) in the district perimeters of the Public elementary and high school of your choice. For private schools there is no such restriction of course. Community colleges and State universities offer in-state tuition to residents. Private universities do not offer this!

More than books! Public libraries are an excellent source of local resources for both adults and children. They offer an array of research material, book discussion groups, and programs for children and community events. Most services are free. Some libraries even host conversation groups for people learning English. Find your local library using the links below:
